That’s Nice, But What’s the Job?

DriveTime is immediately hiring Automotive Reconditioners!

In short, the Paint Automotive Reconditioner is responsible for the vehicle’s cosmetic inspection, color matching, and paint application to bring the condition of the vehicle back to a presentable condition. Work with management to repair or reject inventory based on estimated cost of repairs and/or the overall quality of the vehicle.

In long, our Automotive Reconditioners are responsible for:

  • Remove rust and other debris from surfaces to be painted.
  • Select the proper colors and substances for the project.
  • Use paint sprayers and brushes to apply paint to a vehicle.
  • Check for runs or sags in the paint to ensure a quality product.
  • Keep area clean and organized to avoid spills and hazards.
  • Must be comfortable operating vehicles on the lot
  • Must be familiar with mixing paint, primer, sealer, and base/clear coats
  • Must be skilled in utilizing painting equipment such as spray-dying equipment, power tools, fillers, stitching, sanding and work aids utilizing specific surface preparation and repair techniques
  • Must be skilled in color charts, formulas, color blending, color matching, to assure a high-quality paint finish
  • Must obtain the decision-making skills to recondition vehicles at a cost-effective price, this also includes rejecting vehicles that could cost the company too much
  • Must collaborate with Management and team members to conduct repairs in a timely manner
  • Must practice safely in the workplace to eliminate hazard to one’s self and team members in the Inspection Center

The Specifics - What do you need?

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Vocational/Technical degree or professional experience equivalent
  • Valid driver's license, and insurable DMV required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
