A Day in the Life of a Financial Reporting Accountant

That’s Nice, But What’s the Job?

 

In short, as a Financial Reporting Analyst, you will apply business and accounting knowledge to perform financial reporting and consolidations, as well as prepare quarterly internal financial reports under the direction of the Manager of Financial Reporting or Managing Director of Financial Reporting.

 

In long, our Financial Reporting Analyst are responsible for:

 

  • Assisting with the preparation of external financial reports (Company equivalent 10Ks, 10Qs, 8Ks, etc.).
  • Assisting with the preparation of various quarterly and annual footnote disclosures.
  • Supporting the coordination of the quarterly and annual audits.
  • Supporting the preparation of the quarterly internal financial reports and related schedules that are presented to senior leadership.
  • Assisting with the development/maintenance of Sarbanes Oxley compliance process as it relates to required financial controls/disclosures.
  • Assisting in the evaluation and research of technical accounting issues on key transactions as appropriate.
  • Take on comprehensive projects and bring issues to resolution.

  • Organization and time management skills in spades. You’ll be handling multiple projects and deadlines that will require you to prioritize then re-prioritize… then… re-prioritize again.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. The ability to talk and write with confidence, charisma and competence for a wide variety of audiences.
  • Killer analytical and reporting abilities. You’ll need the capability to analyze financial data and in return, prepare timely reports on your findings.
  • A mind for the details. Okay we know “detail-oriented” is on about every job description – but we really mean it! 
  • Plays well with others. Not only will you be working closely with your team but working intimately with other departments.  We work together in order to win together.

 

 

The Specifics.

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • 1-2 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Strong Excel skills.

 

 

Nice to Haves.

 

  • Licensed CPA or in the process of pursuing CPA.
  • Public accounting experience.
  • Experience in an accounting/financial reporting department for a public company.
