A Day in the Life of a SharePoint Administrator/ Analyst

  • Work with company departments to configure and maintain SharePoint site collections, document libraries, lists, and site pages
  • Support existing SharePoint implementation across the enterprise and work on future site development projects
  • Perform SharePoint development, customization and integration efforts for enterprise solutions involving departmental sites, employee portals, content management, forms and workflow.
  • Promote user adoption through user and site manager training, consultation, and support of existing SharePoint functionality
  • Provide expert advice to departmental users and site collection managers regarding availability of SharePoint functionality to deliver requested business capabilities
  • Provide timely response to web application support incidents, change orders and requests
  • Document business requirements, system design, test cases, document production changes and develop end-user training and reference materials
  • Work with content providers to ensure the integrity of the information provided on Intranet sites
  • Develop solutions that primarily make use of SharePoint out of the box features but also extend those features through advanced customization, workflows and integration of other technologies with SharePoint.
  • Works with peer organizations as a subject matter expert on the existing SharePoint functionality.
  • Work on maintaining system governance and work with the governance committee to ensure system integrity.
  • Developing SharePoint corporate portals, customized solutions based on client requirements and development of SharePoint workflows utilizing SharePoint Designer and Microsoft Flow
  • Using Visual Studio, C#/.NET development to create and update SharePoint components such as custom web parts, workflows, and features
  • Using front-end libraries such as JavaScript/jQuery to maximize out-of-the-box SharePoint functionalities and deliver valuable, customized solution
  • Gathering requirements from client and becoming a development resource on various projects


Must Haves:

    • 3 + years of SharePoint Portal 2010/2013/O365 experience
    • Understanding of presentation layer technologies like HTML, XML, CSS, and JavaScript
    • Demonstrated knowledge of the following areas is required:
      • Using out-of-the-box solutions with SharePoint including troubleshooting, design, development, and administration of SharePoint sites using best practices
  • Creating list or library-based applications in SharePoint (work samples may be requested)
  • Developing and managing SharePoint content types and taxonomy
  • Good working knowledge of JavaScript - preferably jQuery, HTML, and CSS
  • Solid grasp of implementing SharePoint Designer workflows, PowerApps and Microsoft Flow

Ability to:

  • Think critically and solve problems independently
  • Communicate effectively with department personnel/all levels of personnel throughout the organization

Nice to Haves:

    • General understanding of Windows Server and configuration is a plus
    • Have a working understanding of various SDLC methodologies include Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, and Kanban.
    • Object-oriented programming experience using ASP.NET and C#



  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or related area
  • TS, ITP, MCSE or other MS certifications are a plus
