That’s Nice, But What’s the Job?
In short, as an Income Tax Accountant II on our internal tax team, you will play a key role in supporting the company’s income tax compliance and accounting. Working under the guidance of senior tax professionals, you’ll ensure accurate federal and state income tax filings, support the income tax provision process for financial reporting, and contribute to research and planning initiatives. You’ll collaborate closely with colleagues across Accounting, Finance, and other departments to align tax operations with the company’s broader business goals.
In long, our Income Tax Accountants are responsible for:
Preparing tax returns and workpapers – Prepare complex federal, state, and local income tax returns for multiple business entities (corporate and pass-through). Prepare book-to-tax adjustments, complete quarterly estimates, and handle related administrative tasks, ensuring compliance with federal and state tax regulations.
Collaborating cross-functionally – Work with teams across the business on projects such as forecasting, shareholder reporting, tax credits and studies, and compliance requests.
Supporting apportionment and fixed assets – Assist with apportionment workpapers, fixed asset tax book management, state composite and withholding filings, and shareholder reporting for pass-through entities.
Contributing to the tax provision – Assist with the monthly income tax provision in accordance with U.S. GAAP (ASC 740), including calculating current and deferred taxes and analyzing effective tax rates.
Conducting research – Research complex tax issues, evaluate tax law changes, and present findings to leadership. Identify implications and opportunities for planning or savings.
Supporting audits and inquiries – Assist external auditors and government tax authorities by gathering documentation, clearly explaining positions, responding promptly to notices, and resolving issues professionally.
Maintaining controls and process improvements – Uphold strong internal controls and documentation standards. Proactively identify opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy within the tax function.
So, What Kind of Folks Are We Looking for?
Organization and deadline management skills in spades. You’ll be handling multiple projects and statutory deadlines, which will require you to prioritize and re-prioritize to stay on track.
Strong communicator. You can talk and write about complex tax concepts with clarity and confidence – whether you’re explaining an issue to an accounting colleague or sharing a technical position concisely for auditors.
Killer analytical and problem-solving abilities. You have a knack for diving in, identifying any discrepancies or opportunities, and presenting solutions. You’re comfortable analyzing data and tax law to support your findings.
Detail-oriented. Yes, it’s on almost every job description – but in tax, accuracy is everything. You notice the small details that keep workpapers, returns, and reports correct and compliant.
The Specifics.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
2–4 years of professional experience in tax or accounting (corporate or pass-through entity experience or public accounting strongly preferred).
Solid understanding of general accounting principles and financial statements.
Experience preparing federal and state corporate income tax return workpapers.

Experience with tax compliance software (e.g., Corptax, OneSource, GoSystem, CCH Axcess, or similar).
Knowledge of state-specific adjustments (e.g., addbacks, credits, NOLs, conformity/decoupling issues).
