Assistant Director, Licensing

Provide strategic leadership and direction for teams managing the full lifecycle of licenses and registrations across federal, state, and local jurisdictions, ensuring alignment with business growth and compliance priorities.
Champion a proactive compliance culture by designing and overseeing comprehensive licensing audit strategies that mitigate regulatory risk and safeguard the organization’s ability to operate.
Optimize enterprise-wide use of proprietary systems for license tracking and renewals, ensuring data integrity, operational efficiency, and executive-level visibility into compliance metrics.
Ensure continuity of operations by driving timely, accurate, and risk-based submission strategies for licensing renewals and regulatory filings, minimizing exposure to lapses or penalties.
Serve as a strategic partner to cross-functional leaders (Legal, Compliance, Operations, and Business Development) and external regulators to support market expansion, new product launches, and evolving business initiatives.
Provide executive reporting on licensing initiatives, highlighting emerging risks, progress on strategic priorities, and long-term compliance trends for decision-making.
Anticipate and assess the organizational impact of evolving licensing regulations, guiding leadership on strategic responses to maintain competitiveness and compliance.
Lead the development and continuous improvement of enterprise-wide licensing processes, establishing scalable SOPs that support innovation and operational excellence.
Build and leverage strong relationships with internal stakeholders and regulatory bodies to position the organization as a trusted and compliant market leader.
Oversee organizational readiness for regulatory inquiries, ensuring that documentation, governance, and compliance frameworks support transparency and credibility.

The Specifics.
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Legal Studies, Public Administration, or related field or equivalent experience.
5+ years of experience in licensing, compliance, or regulatory affairs, with a focus on Consumer Finance, Ancillary, or Motor Vehicle Dealer Licensing.
3+ Years of experience in a management or leadership role, such as supervising staff, leading a project, or managing cross-functional teams.
Strong knowledge of regulatory environments across multiple jurisdictions.
Excellent organizational and project management skills.
High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and license management software/tools
