Senior Accountant

An exciting opportunity in Dallas, Texas for an experienced accountant to be a part of a Single-Family Office with a 30-year history.  The senior accountant will be an integral part of a small, close-knit team.  This unique new position reports to the Chief Investment Officer and Chief Financial Officer and will be responsible for a wide range of compliance and accounting functions.

Seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, positive, and analytical senior accountant to join a private family office. The office is currently expanding into significant new ventures, and the position offers the opportunity to jump in from the beginning on new investment projects, with huge potential to learn various facets of the business and have a true voice at the table. With a strong working knowledge of GAAP accounting and in particular with investment accounting, the ideal candidate will be flexible and resourceful. The working environment will be lean and entrepreneurial, and a willingness to learn and grow will be essential.

Primary Duties:

  • Maintain investment fund accounting workpapers and financial statements
  • Support the Chief Investment Officer’s investment functions and processes
  • Calculate and maintain partnership allocations
  • Track corporate actions
  • Setup and maintain brokerage and bank accounts
  • Maintain and reconcile books for internal funding including calculating fees and generating statements for each investment fund
  • Maintain shadow books for externally administered funds
  • Track valuations with partner contributions/distributions
  • Coordinate with outside professional service firms, investment advisors, brokers, audit, and tax firms
  • Ensure reporting and compliance requirements are met
  • Identify tax issues and work with internal tax director
  • Work on ad hoc projects



  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • CPA license preferred
  • 3+ years’ experience in public accounting or equivalent
  • Strong background in GAAP accounting
  • Exposure to investments, real estate, and finance activities a must
  • Experience with partnership allocations
  • Enjoy working independently and taking on responsibility
  • Ability to clearly communicate with a variety of professionals
  • Adept at time management and prioritizing appropriately to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrate initiative, discipline, and resourcefulness in thinking through issues
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting systems
  • Innovative, go-getter mindset and desire to spur team growth
  • Positive attitude
