DriveTime Needs a “Assistant Director, Instructional Design “

That’s Nice, But What’s the Job?

In short, as an Assistant Director, Instructional Design, you will. As the Assistant Director, you will lead a team of Instructional Designers towards achieving organizational learning and development goals.

You will serve as the primary point of contact when partnering with your business partner on multiple, large- and small-scale learning and development needs and will ensure intake, assignment, prioritization, design, and execution efforts achieve strategic business outcomes while upholding department, brand, quality and engagement standards.

Leveraging the full cycle of needs analysis to evaluation, adult learning concepts, instructional pedagogy and advanced technologies, you will drive the scoping, development and execution of learning solutions that align with strategic initiatives and positively impact employee and company performance. 

In long, our Assistant Director, Instructional Design are responsible for:

  • Assessing overall, short- and long-term learning and development needs with business partners to ensure alignment.
  • Innovating plans and priorities to achieve desired outcomes across multiple business units.
  • Scaling learning solutions to reach optimal impact from implementation to sustainment and evaluation.
  • Effectively allocating resources to meet varying or competing needs.
  • Standardizing strategies across the team that include emphasis and innovation on intake, prioritization, assessment, development, delivery, and adoption.
  • Executing tools to ensure projects are assigned, tracked, and appropriately managed.
  • Successfully and rapidly delivering learning and development solutions that achieve desired outcomes.
  • Advocate a culture that aligns with the organization’s Core Principles, excites employees, drives performance, and encourages a highly engaging approach to learning.
  • Leading consultancy efforts to the business on instructional design vision, capabilities and standards.
  • Generating accountability for the learning solutions process, which includes building trust and credibility for the department with key stakeholders
  • Leading and coaching the team to ensure proper learning design methodology, program and project management, and the development and delivery of learning interventions are achieved.
  • Influencing learning and planning strategies across the business.
  • Ensuring solutions are appropriately leveraged in the LMS system and audited regularly.

Managing sensitive and/or confidential data appropriately.

The Specifics.

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s highly preferred.
  • 5+ years leading a team in learning and development, instructional design, and/or training facilitation.
  • 3+ years proven experience designing Articulate 360 solutions, as well as in-class and printed material a must.
  • Hands-on experience with Adobe Creative or video editing tools.
  • Applied knowledge of Adult Learning Theory, rubrics, and backward-designed techniques.
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills.
  • Leading through ambiguity or uncertainty within a matrix, corporate environment a plus.
  • Successful establishment of credible working relationships across business partners, with proven ability to lean in and influence. Working within or with a Sales or Inventory space highly preferred.
  • Ability to translate needs into actionable solutions that advocate/achieve organizational strategy and vision.
  • Strong time/project management abilities with high regard for deadlines and multi-project focus.
  • Critical thinking skills and use of good judgment/professionalism at all times.
  • Recognizable passion for learning and development.

Ability to manage time-sensitive needs through intake, prioritization, and resource evaluation.

Nice to Haves.

  • Master’s degree.
  • Working within or with a Sales or Inventory space.
