A Day in the Life of an IT Systems Specialist

That’s Nice, But What’s the Job?


In short, as an IT Systems Specialist, you will be responsible for interacting with internal customers and development teams to identify process changes or updates that are required to existing data and workflows that are essential to daily operations. You will be required to become proficient in several of our core enterprise applications and develop a deep understanding of our system interdependencies. 


In long, Some of the day to day responsibilities may include:

  • Works within areas of responsibility on process improvement initiatives. Analyzes work process design, workflow and technology solutions to streamline, automate and improve work processes.
  • Researches, analyzes, and resolves routine to complex business/operations problems related to systems utilized within the business units.  Interfaces with internal customers or vendors to resolve issues as necessary.  Follows up with resolution of problems.
  • Assists our development teams and business users to implement core system changes/updates.
  • Provides operational support for multiple business areas and systems including, but not limited to, researching and resolving system problems, system configuration and maintenance and system validation testing.
  • Creates and maintains workflow documents related to data transaction requirements and interactions between applications and backend systems.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert (SME) for all assigned products and applications.

  • Ability to think outside of the box and seek the most effective solutions
  • Working knowledge of SQL preferred
  • 4 Year degree preferred or in-process.
