A Day in the Life of a Compensation and Benefits Analyst

That’s Nice, But What’s the Job?

 

In short, as the Compensation and Benefits Analyst, you will ensure that our employee packages are in alignment with company policies and guidelines, are competitive and are compliant with legal and fiscal regulations.

 

In long, our Compensation and Benefits Analyst are responsible for:

 

  • Ensuring compensation and benefits standards comply with company policies and/or other regulations or legislation.
  • Analyzing, reviewing, recommending, and obtaining approval for changes to compensation and benefits.
  • Assist in development of policies and procedures to support the compensation and benefits function.
  • Participating in market and salary surveys.
  • Monitoring reviews of compensation and benefits packages to maintain market positioning.
  • Reconciling benefits reporting and cost analysis on health and welfare programs
  • Prepare and coordinate communication of compensation and benefits information to employees.
  • Perform data entry and maintain all benefit databases. Process employee transactions through timely data entry into databases. Coordinate and maintain processes and auditing procedures on a daily basis. Ensure data integrity by creating and generating reports and analyzing data.
  • Process monthly invoices from insurance providers. Review invoices for accuracy & payment. Resolve discrepancies with carriers, payroll and the corporate office. Complete reports for management as requested.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. The ability to talk and write with confidence, charisma and competence for a wide variety of audiences including management.
  • Killer analytical and reporting abilities. You’ll need the capability to analyze data and in return, prepare timely reports on your findings.
  • A mind for the details. Okay we know “detail-oriented” is on about every job description – but we really mean it! 
  • Agile in a fast-past environment. We move, and we move quickly. Thriving in an environment that never stops, is a must.
  • Plays well with others. You will be working in a high-functioning team environment.  We work together in order to win together.
  • Intellectual curiosity. Why? What? How?  Do you find yourself always wanting to learn more and broaden your knowledge base?  If so, this could be the role for you.
  • Operate automatously. This isn’t a “hold your hand” kind of role.  We give you autonomy to be creative in your space and do your thing.  We need an individual that is self-motivated to get the work done and get the work done well.

 

 

The Specifics.

 

  • Bachelors in HR, Finance, Business or related field.
  • 1-3 years’ experience in an analyst role.
  • Display demonstrated ability to make data-driven decisions to optimize benefit plans.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
